Wingo

Wingo is a Colombian ultra-low-cost carrier operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Copa Holdings — the Panamanian aviation group that also operates Copa Airlines. Launched in 2016 to replace Copa Airlines' Colombian subsidiary Aires, Wingo was created to capture the rapidly growing price-sensitive segment of the Colombian and broader Latin American travel market without diluting the Copa Airlines premium brand. Operating from its primary base at Bogotá El Dorado International Airport, Wingo serves domestic Colombian routes and international destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean at fares significantly below those offered by full-service carriers.

The airline's business model follows the standard ULCC unbundling approach — very low base fares with separate charges for checked baggage, carry-on bags, seat selection, and onboard food. Wingo has carved out a particularly strong niche on routes connecting Colombia with popular Caribbean beach destinations including Aruba, Curaçao, and various Dominican Republic points, as well as South American capitals where Copa Airlines does not compete directly at lower price points. The airline operates a modern Boeing 737 fleet and benefits from Copa Holdings' technical and operational expertise in Latin American aviation.
