About Emirates
Emirates is the world's most profitable airline — a title confirmed by its record 2024-25 results of USD 5.8 billion profit and USD 34.9 billion revenue — and the airline that most comprehensively changed the nature of global long-haul aviation by making Dubai the world's premier connecting hub for intercontinental travel. Founded in 1985 with just two aircraft and US$10 million of capital, Emirates has grown into an airline of 260 aircraft serving 148 cities in 80 countries carrying 53.7 million passengers annually from its base at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Emirates operates as an independent carrier — not a member of any of the three major airline alliances — but maintains codeshare and interline partnerships with 33 airlines and has interline agreements with 118 more, providing access to 1,750+ cities beyond its own network.
The airline's fleet comprises primarily Boeing 777 widebody jets and Airbus A380 superjumbos — the latter of which Emirates is the world's largest operator — with the first Airbus A350-900 having joined the fleet in November 2024 as the beginning of a major new aircraft type addition. Emirates has placed the largest aircraft order in aviation history at the 2023 Dubai Airshow: 205 Boeing 777X jets and 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliners worth approximately USD 52 billion. Emirates's four-class product — Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class — sets industry standards at every cabin level, with the First Class Private Suite (available on A380) and recently retrofitted 777 cabins widely regarded as the finest in the sky.
The airline's ICE (Information Communication Entertainment) in-flight entertainment system consistently wins world's best IFE awards. Emirates Skywards loyalty program has 30+ million members.
