Bamboo Airways

Bamboo Airways is Vietnam's third airline and a relatively new full-service carrier that has positioned itself as a premium alternative to Vietnam Airlines and VietJet, offering higher service standards at competitive prices. Founded by FLC Group — one of Vietnam's largest real estate and tourism conglomerates — Bamboo Airways was conceived as both a standalone airline business and as the aviation complement to FLC's extensive resort properties across Vietnam. The airline launched in January 2019 and grew rapidly despite the COVID-19 pandemic creating devastating headwinds.

Bamboo operates from multiple Vietnamese airports including Hanoi Noi Bai, Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat, and Da Nang, connecting domestic Vietnamese routes with international services to major Asian destinations. The airline faced significant turbulence following the arrest of FLC Group founder Trinh Van Quyet on fraud charges in March 2022, which created financial uncertainty. Despite these challenges, Bamboo Airways has continued operations and is seeking new ownership and investment.
