Can I bring liquids on a plane?
International rules (used by most countries): Liquids in containers of 100ml or less only, stored in a single clear resealable plastic bag of no more than 1 litre capacity. Only one bag per passenger.
This applies to: water, juice, perfume, shampoo, toothpaste, creams, gels, and any other liquids or pastes.
Exemptions:
• Baby milk and baby food (for infants travelling with you)
• Prescription medicines (with prescription)
• Liquids purchased airside after security
Important: The UK changed its liquids rule in 2024 — passengers at most UK airports can now carry liquids in containers up to 2 litres (no bag required), but this is still being rolled out. Check your specific UK airport before travel.
Always check your departure country's aviation authority rules as they may differ.
