ℹ️ About Wideroe

Widerøe is Norway's oldest airline and the largest regional carrier in Scandinavia, providing essential scheduled air services connecting small and remote Norwegian communities — particularly along the western fjord coast and in northern Norway above the Arctic Circle — that have no practical alternative to air transport. Often referred to as "Norway's lifeline airline," Widerøe operates the most extensive short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) network in Europe, serving dozens of tiny airports with runways too short for conventional jet aircraft. The airline operates an all-De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q-Series turboprop fleet — aircraft specifically designed for the challenging conditions of Norwegian regional aviation — supplemented by modern Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 jets for slightly longer routes.

Widerøe serves communities along Norway's dramatic fjord coastline and Arctic communities that are cut off by mountains and sea for much of the year, making air transport not merely a convenience but a genuine necessity. Many of Widerøe's routes operate under Norwegian government Public Service Obligation (PSO) contracts that guarantee year-round service to communities that could not sustain commercially viable air travel. The airline is a SAS partner and Star Alliance affiliate.
