ℹ️ About SpiceJet

SpiceJet is one of India's oldest low-cost carriers, operating domestic Indian routes and select international services from its primary hubs at Delhi and Mumbai. Founded in 2005 from the assets of the defunct ModiLuft airline, SpiceJet was a pioneer in bringing genuinely low fares to the Indian domestic market. The airline faced severe financial difficulties through the early 2020s — a combination of COVID-19 devastation, high fuel costs, currency volatility, and management challenges — which resulted in aircraft groundings, flight cancellations, and regulatory scrutiny from India's DGCA.

SpiceJet entered a critical restructuring period in 2023-2024 to address its debt burden and operational reliability issues. The airline operates Boeing 737 aircraft and has been working to restore confidence through improved financial management and operational performance. SpiceJet's fate is closely watched in Indian aviation as a barometer of the challenges facing mid-sized carriers in one of the world's most competitive domestic aviation markets.
