Hainan Airlines is China's largest privately owned airline and one of Asia's most respected full-service carriers, consistently earning Skytrax 5-Star airline certification — a distinction held by only a handful of airlines worldwide. Headquartered in Haikou, Hainan province, Hainan Airlines operates domestic Chinese routes and a growing international network from multiple Chinese hubs including Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an. The airline is a member of the Oneworld Global Alliance through its partnership relationships.

Hainan Airlines became internationally known for its high-quality service and product offering that rivals the best Asian carriers, winning multiple Skytrax awards for cabin crew, in-flight entertainment, and overall passenger experience. The airline's parent company HNA Group — once one of China's most acquisitive conglomerates — underwent a dramatic collapse between 2019 and 2021, requiring massive debt restructuring. Hainan Airlines itself was reorganized and continues to operate under a restructured HNA group.
