About GoAir
GoAir — rebranded as Go First in 2021 — was an Indian low-cost carrier that operated domestic Indian routes until it filed for voluntary insolvency in May 2023, subsequently suspending all operations. Go First was owned by the Wadia Group (Bombay Dyeing conglomerate) and operated Airbus A320neo aircraft exclusively. The airline's collapse was primarily attributed to the mass grounding of Pratt & Whitney GTF engines that powered its A320neo fleet — a global engine reliability crisis that left Go First unable to operate a commercially viable proportion of its aircraft.
The airline ceased operations on May 3, 2023, stranding thousands of passengers and affecting over 10,000 employees. As of March 2025, Go First remains in insolvency proceedings and has not resumed operations. This entry is maintained for historical reference.
